Nuutajärvi Boutique Series Art Glass Bowl
Nuutajärvi Boutique Series Art Glass Bowl
Vintage hand-blown art glass bowl from the renowned Finnish glassworks Nuutajärvi, created as part of the limited Boutique series in the 1970s. This series showcased unique experimental designs by leading Scandinavian designers of the time, including Oiva Toikka, Heikki Orvola and Kaj Franck, and the stylistic parallels here are clear.
Form
Vintage bowl has an organic, asymmetric shape with a wide, shallow form (maximum diameter approx. 24 cm) and a smooth, gently curved rim. Made from vivid green glass with a thick, clear outer casing, the interior features a rich pattern of trapped air bubbles and textural swirls, achieved through controlled bubble and mold-blown techniques. This gives the surface a dynamic, almost cellular appearance - a hallmark of the studio glass movement of the era.
Colors
The color palette shifts between bright emerald and seafoam, with variations depending on the thickness of the glass and the light. The overall effect is both sculptural and luminous, reflecting the experimental and artistic freedom of the Boutique line.
Still bearing its original silver foil label: NUUTAJÄRVI NOTSJÖ 1793 BOUTIQUE
