Collection: Designer: Eero Rislakki

Eero Ensio Rislakki (1924–2017) trained as an industrial engineer before becoming one of Finland’s most versatile designers. By the 1960s and 1970s, he had designed everything from kitchenware and bicycles to church silver and bathroom fixtures, demonstrating his breadth across form and function.

Awards & Professional Recognitions

In 2005, Rislakki received the Pro Finlandia Medal, Finland’s top honor in the arts. He was also honored as an honorary member of Finland’s Association of Industrial Designers and was active in the UK’s industrial design community.

Glass Design & Nordic Presence

Although primarily an industrial designer, Rislakki took on creative projects with Finnish glassmakers. In the late 1960s and early 1970s he created a set of crystal “Lara” shot-glasses for Mäntyharju Glassworks, featuring a dotted “ice” texture on the surface. Also he worked for Riihimaen glassworks.

Design Legacy & Collector Appeal

Rislakki’s signature is clean clarity with playful surfaces, seen not only on his shot glasses but also on pieces like coffee pots and parts of the classic Jopo bike by Helkama. Though best known for mass‑market and functional items, his glass experiments stand out as rare and desirable collectibles, especially among aficionados of Nordic midcentury design.
